JONESBORO, Ark. (10/27/11) – The
Arkansas State women's bowling team was ranked sixth in the first National
Tenpin Coaches Association poll released by the NCAA Wednesday night.
A-State received 360 points in the poll, which
was topped by defending NCAA Champion Maryland-Eastern Shore. ASU finished the
2010-11 season ranked eighth in the final NTCA poll.
The Red Wolves bowling team finished the season
by competing in its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament, including its second
under head coach Justin Kostick. The Red Wolves finished the regular season
with a 61-26 record.
“We are excited to be ranked as one of the top
ten teams in the nation,” Kostick said. “We are looking forward to starting
this season this weekend and coming away with a good performance.”
The A-State bowling team will begin its season
Friday, Oct. 28 in Springfield, Mo., at the Greater Ozarks Invitational hosted
by Central Missouri. The Red Wolves took home the tournament title last season,
which was also the first title the squad had won under the direction of
Kostick.
