JONESBORO, Ark. (5/21/12) - Arkansas State senior tennis player Ceara
Howey was named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Women's at
large team, announced the organization Monday.
Howey has a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a geography major at
A-State. She compiled a team-high 12-7 record as the only senior on the Red
Wolves tennis team this past season.
A native of Gosforth, England, Howey played most of the season in the
No. 6 spot for Arkansas State and posted a six-match winning streak for the Red
Wolves during the 2012 season.
To qualify for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must
have a 3.3 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale, be a sophomore or
above at their institution and be an important contributor to their team.
CoSIDA began the
Academic All-America program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored
thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all
divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.
