A-STATE/CREIGHTON SERIES HISTORY

 • Friday night's game will be just the 9th ever meeting between the Red Wolves and Blue Jays.

• The first meeting occurred during the 1969 season when A-State took two of three games from the Blue Jays, including a victory in the first meeting ever.

• The teams met twice during midweek action with each squad earning a victory.

 • The most recent meeting was during the 2011 season with A-State hosting Creighton at Tomlinson Stadium. The Blue Jays took 2-of-3 from the Red Wolves but A-Sate did capture a win in the series finalie.

OWEN HONORED BY COLLEGESPORTSMADNESS.COM

 • Sophomore pitcher David Owen was named the CollegeSportsMadness.com Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after his performance at UAB on March 2.

• Owen struck out a career-high 10 against the Blazers to lead A-State to a 5-3 victory.

• He became the first Red Wolves pitcher to strikeout 10 in a game since Bradley Wallace and Daniel Wright each did it in 2013.

WHAT IN THE WIDE WORLD OF WEATHER

• Weather has been the No. 1 nemesis of the A-State baseball this year, already forcing the squad to drop one game from its schedule and forcing reschedules of several more.

• A-State was forced to push back opening (originally Feb. 14) by one day because of rain but the game was made up the next day as part of a double-header.

• A mixture of snow and ice forced the Red Wolves to cancel its road trip to Missouri State and as a result only one of the games will be made up on March 26.

• Most recently A-State had to change home sites for its upcoming series with Creighton. The games will now be played in Millington, Tenn., at USA Baseball Stadium Saturday-Monday.

• That change forced Arkansas State and Murray State to push its midweek showdown back a day f rom March 11 to March 12.

• He was the first A-State player to hit a grand slam since Jordan Castaldo did it on May 25, 2011 against FIU.

BURGESS AMONG SBC LEADERS

Matt Burgess leads the Sun Belt Conference with 14 RBIs after the first three weeks of the season.
