DAVIDSON, N.C. (1/31/15) — The Arkansas State women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback at Davidson to complete a two match road swing through the state of North Carolina.

Tamara Slijepcevic captured A-State's only victory of the day in single's competition with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Elaina Cummer in the No. 1 match. Julie Gaugiery lost the No. 2 match to Anna C. Feaster 6-3, 6-3, while Victoria Pisana fell in the No. 3 match 6-4, 6-4 to Sarah Stein.

In other matches, Sabina Jersic lost to Jenna Brunner 6-2, 6-1, while Jess Heeps-Eriksen lost to Ava Todd 6-1, 6-2. Daria Iurchenko also lost her match to Cassidy Shell 6-3, 6-3 to round out singles play.

In the doubles point the Red Wolves pairing of Sofia Krsmanovic/Jess Heeps-Erikens defeated Ava Todd/Sarah Stein in a thrilling match. The A-State won 7-6  and captured four straight points in the tie break to earn the win, but the Red Wolves fell in the other two doubles matches to drop the point. Victoria Pisani/Julie Gauguery lost to Elaina Cummer/Jenna Brunner 6-3, while Sabina Jeresic/Tamara Slijepecvic lost to Anna C. Feaster/Ally Sexton 6-4.

A-State returns home for a home match against regional opponent Southeast Missouri Friday, Feb. 6 at the RidgePointe Country Club, followed by a road match against Central Arkansas at Noon on Monday, Feb. 9.
