BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (4/11/16) – The Arkansas State men's golf team shot a combined 583 Monday at the Forest Ridge Country Club, completing the ORU Shootout's opening two rounds in first place among 11 teams.
The Red Wolves posted a 294 and 289 for the first and second rounds, respectively, grabbing a three-stroke lead over second-place Central Arkansas through 36 holes of competition. A-State was led by four players finishing the first day among the top 20 leaders, including senior Oswin Schlenkrich in first place.
Schlenkrich began play with a 71 and followed with a 70, giving him a 141 total and four-stroke advantage over second-place Louis Tomlinson of Central Arkansas and Sam Stevens of Oklahoma State. Another A-State senior, Seth Garner, is tied for sixth place with a 147 (74-73).
Also participating for the Red Wolves, Tanner Napier is tied for 12th place with a 148 (73-75), Joel Wendin tied for 16th with a 150 (79-71), Cameron McRae tied for 25th with a 152 (77-75) and Andrew Huseman tied for 44th with a 155 (76-79). McRae is competing as an individual.
The ORU Shootout will conclude tomorrow with the third-and-final round.
