JONESBORO, Ark. (4/13/16) – Arkansas State track and field junior thrower Erin Farmer has earned Sun Belt Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced Wednesday.

For the third-straight week, Farmer set a program record in the shot put. This week though, she climbed to the No. 5 nationally with a mark of 17.23m (56-06.50). The throw broke the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium record and betters her previous personal best of 15.86m (52-00.50). Farmer also posted a sixth place finish in the hammer throw (51.51m/169-00) at the Baylor Invitational.

This marks the third weekly honor for Farmer spanning the indoor and outdoor season. She earned the weekly accolade twice during the 2016 indoor season. Farmer enters the final weeks of the outdoor schedule leading the Sun Belt Conference in shot put and ranks third on the NCAA West Region qualifying list.

A-State is next scheduled to compete the weekend of April 22-23. Most of the A-State student-athletes will compete at the War Eagle Invitational while several throwers will compete at the Triton Invitational (UC-San Diego). Following the competition next weekend, A-State competes at the Memphis Invitational (April 30) before gearing up for the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships May 13-15 in Lafayette, La.
