A-State Shatters DMR School Records On Friday At Pitt State

JONESBORO, Ark. (2/14/20) – On Friday night at the Indoor Gorilla Classic, the Arkansas State track and field team saw record-breaking performances in both the men's and women's distance medley relay, as both squads shattered program records.

A-State's men's DMR that featured Seth Waters, Jermie Walker, Gregoire Saury and Bennett Pascoe, clocked a meet-record 9:51.34 that broke the 15-year-old school record set in 2005 by nearly six seconds and currently ranks as the 15th-fastest DMR in the NCAA this season.

On the women's side, the team of Elizabeth Martin, Kyndall Hudson, McKenzie Cornell and Pauline Meyer also ran a meet record on Friday, running 11:48.59 to top the previous school-record mark set in 2011 (11:53.17) by over four seconds.

Three Red Wolves posted personal-best individual marks on the day, all on the women's side. Lauren Beauchamp cleared 3.92m (12-10.25) to move into fifth all-time in A-State indoor history. Her mark is the best by a Red Wolf this season. In the women's 5000m, Elizabeth Gillette also moved up in the record books, running 17:34.33 to move up to sixth in program history. Both athletes finished second in their respective events.

In the women's weight throw, Evangelynn Harris hurled a personal-best 16.20m (53-1.75) while Grace Flowers earned one of A-State's 11 top-five finishes. Arabrian Mack and Johnaya Givens recorded season-bests in the long jump, leaping 5.78m (18-11.75) and 5.38m (17-8.0), respectively.

Hayden Hampton also matched his indoor career best in the high jump, clearing 1.99m (6-6.25) to earn a second-place finish in the open section.

On Saturday, the men's 3000m opens the day for A-State at 11:05 a.m., while the first field event slated for a noon start with the men's triple jump and men's shot put. The first women's field event will be the invite section of the high jump at noon with the Red Wolves wrapping up the meet at 4:25 p.m. in the women's 800m.
