NEW ORLEANS, La. (2/27/20) – Picking up her first career individual championship, Arkansas State women's golf senior Grayson Gladden was named the Sun Belt Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Thursday.
Gladden opened the spring season with back-to-back top-five finishes, including her first career individual medalist honor. At the FAU Winter Warm-Up, Gladden finished fourth among 81 competitors and helped A-State to a first place finish in the team standings. That tournament title was the first for the program outside of its home tournament since the 2014-15 season and her final round 70 helped the Red Wolves tie the school record low round of 284. At the Rio Verde Invitational, Gladden earned her first career individual championship finishing at 1-under for the event and the Red Wolves claimed back-to-back tournament championships for the first time since the 2000-01 season. The individual title for Gladden was the first for an A-State player outside its home event since the 2012-13 season.
A-State owns a record 69-23-2 on the season and returns to action at the Bethune-Cookman Lady Cat Invitational March 12-13 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
