FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (10/22/21) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team leads after five Baker matches at the Bearcat Hammer Open hosted by McKendree at St. Clair Bowling Center.
 
In a field featuring the top three teams in the NTCA Preseason Poll, including the third-ranked Red Wolves, A-State has the day one lead. A-State (13-5) rolled 4,824 pins, an average of 193.0 to lead No. 1 Nebraska (4,745 / 189.8) and No. 2 McKendree (4,675 / 187.0).
 
The Red Wolves bowled three matches over 1,000, including a best of 1,059 in the fifth match of the day. A-State opened with a 1,039-888 margin against Lewis. Tusculum topped the Red Wolves 892-868 in the second contest, but A-State was unbeaten the remainder of the day. Edging Quincy 837-833 in the third match, A-State followed with a 1,021-841 decision against Drury and closed the day with a 1,059-841 win against Kentucky Wesleyan.
 
Five traditional matches are on tap Saturday. The Red Wolves are slated to face Central Missouri to open the day followed by matches against Alabama A&M, McKendree, Maryville and Carthage.
