FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (10/22/21) – A perfect 5-0 day in traditional matches saw the Arkansas State women's bowling team maintain the top spot in pinfall after 10 matches of the Bearcat Hammer Open at St. Clair Bowling Center in the tournament hosted by McKendree.
A-State (18-5) rolled 4,796 pins Saturday and holds the overall lead with 9,620 total pinfall, an average of 192.4. Nebraska is second at 9,539 with Maryville (9,433) third and host McKendree fourth. The Red Wolves face Nebraska in a Baker best-of-seven series to open the day Sunday with the winner automatically advancing to the championship. The loser of that matchup faces the winner between Maryville and McKendree with that winner taking the other spot in the championship match.
Vanessa Noftsier ranked fifth among all bowlers as she downed 984 pins in the five matches, an average of 196.80. Noftsier rolled a best of 234 against McKendree, a match A-State won 988-912.
Sarah Sanes had the high game of the day among the Red Wolves, rolling a 243 in the final match of the day against Carthage. Sanes finished with a total of 944 to rank 10th.
