JONESBORO, Ark. (11/19/21) – For the second consecutive season, and just the fourth time in program history, an Arkansas State cross country runner will compete for All-American honors and a national championship.
A-State's Lexington Hilton will run as an individual in the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships, held Saturday at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. The Green Forest, Ark., native is set to compete in the men's 10K championship, which is slated for 10:10 a.m. CT. The entire meet will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
Hilton earned his spot in the national meet by placing eighth overall at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships last Friday in Waco, Texas, helping the A-State men to a program-best third-place team finish. He clocked a school-record time of 30:26.8, shattering the previous record held by Bennett Pascoe by 30 seconds.
While the Red Wolves will not factor into the team score, Hilton has a chance at earning All-American status, which goes to the top 40 finishers in each race. Should Hilton finish 40th or better, he will become the first All-American in Arkansas State cross country history.
