WICHITA, Kan./ATHENS, Ga./LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (4/10/21) – A pair of distance school records fell on Saturday night at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, Kansas, to cap off a three-meet weekend for the Arkansas State track and field teams.
Pauline Meyer shattered the women's 3000m steeplechase program record by nearly 10 full seconds with a time of 10:36.12 at the Wichita State Open. She now owns four school records after being part of the program-record DMR team, as well as setting program-bests in the indoor mile and 3000m earlier this season.
To end the day, Lexington Hilton broke the men's 10,000m record by nearly a minute, clocking a time of 29:36.67 to win the event.
In the women's 10,000m a trio of Red Wolves etched their names in the top five. Sophie Leathers led the way with a time of 35:40.79 that is second-best in school history to win the event. Sarah Trammel placed third in 36:13.24 while Elizabeth Gillette finished fifth in 36:28.68, ranking fourth and fifth in school history, respectively.
At Georgia, the Red Wolves posted six personal bests and a pair of victories to cap off the Spec Towns Invitational.
Evangelynn Harris kicked things off with a big PR in the rain to win the women's shot put, tossing the implement 15.26m (50-0.75) to move up to third in school history. In the women's discus, Babette Vandeput tallied her third straight win in as many meets with a throw of 53.12m (174-3.0) while Grace Flowers placed second with a mark of 47.82m (156-11.0).
In the men's 800m, Seth Waters led a trio of Red Wolves who notched personal-best times, finishing second in 1:50.65. Alejandro Vargas (7th – 1:53.78) and Gregoire Saury (10th – 1:54.57) finished behind the Harrison, Arkansas, native. Kayla Wade also clocked a career-best 2:21.47 in the women's 800m.
Kobey Hill placed third in the men's 400m with a career-best 48.75. Steffan Mallory II, competing in the 400m at the Little Rock Open, ran an outdoor best of 52.50 to place eighth.
In Little Rock, Megan Adams placed second in the women's 5000m, running 19:21.64.
Darrian Lockett picked up a win in the men's 400m hurdles, clocking a season-best 54.76.

A-State returns to action next week, hosting the Red Wolves Open. The two-day meet is set for Friday, April 16-Saturday, April 17 at the A-State Track and Field Complex.
