JONESBORO, Ark. (5/4/21) – Following the A-State Athletics Department's recent introduction of its Pack of Champions Scholarship Fund, Arkansas State University alumni Dr. Tim and Terri Langford became the first individuals to join the initiative's 'Champion Level' by fully-funding a scholarship.
Longtime A-State Athletics supporters, the Langford's made their most recent contribution on the first-ever Day of Giving at Arkansas State University last week. The Pack of Champions Scholarship Fund shines a spotlight on one of the most impactful ways to support student-athletes by providing donors special benefits while they assist the academic and athletic endeavors of current and future Red Wolves.
"Terri and I are excited about the Pack of Champions Scholarship Fund and the tremendous impact it will have on the lives of our student-athletes at Arkansas State," said Tim Langford. "We are grateful for the experiences and opportunities Arkansas State University provided us, so we are happy to be able to pass it forward by investing in the futures of our Red Wolves."
Recognizing the Langford's contribution at the fund's top level, or 'Champion Level,' the fully-funded scholarship will be named the "Dr. Tim and Terri Langford Starting Quarterback Scholarship." Tim Langford played quarterback at A-State from 1980-83 and has since been inducted into the athletics department's Hall of Honor and the football program's Ring of Honor. A former physical therapist, Terri Langford received part of her physical therapy training at Arkansas State University.
"We couldn't be prouder that two of our greatest Arkansas State University alumni and ambassadors in Tim and Terri Langford are the first individuals to join the Champion Level of our Pack of Champions Scholarship Fund," said A-State Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics
Tom Bowen. "The way they've embraced our scholarship fund will create great momentum for us moving forward, so we are excited to see the future growth of this important initiative."
In addition to naming a starting position on the team of a donor's choice, those who reach the Champion Level also receive triple priority points for every dollar and will have their name appear on the video board during pregame of their designated sport. All contributions are also 100 percent tax deductible.
A-State's reward-based priority points system calls for ticket purchasing and donation incentives that provide better opportunity for not only ticket options, parking locations and activities surrounding home A-State game days, but also future bowl-game appearances and the ability to obtain tickets through the Red Wolves' allotment for their Sept. 6, 2025, football match up against Arkansas at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
