Boeh Steps Aside as A-State Deputy Athletics Director

JONESBORO, Ark. (5/19/22) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Thursday that Thomas Boeh has decided to step aside from his Deputy Athletics Director position and beginning June 13 will transition into another role outside of Athletics with Arkansas State University through the end of the 2022 calendar year.

"It has been my privilege to serve Arkansas State and work alongside my exceptional colleagues within the Red Wolves' Athletics Department," said Boeh.  "The department has now entered into a transition phase.  With that, after 40 great years working in athletics administration, I have chosen to step aside at this time so that (new Arkansas State Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics) Jeff Purinton may have more flexibility as he builds his leadership team for the long term.  Although I will deeply miss the daily interactions with the student-athletes and the staff alike, I look forward to contributing to A-State in a new capacity for the next several months prior to returning to retirement."

Boeh, a former Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year, spent the last year as a member of the A-State Athletics Department's executive administration.  He came to A-State after spending the previous four years operating TCB Sports Consulting Services.

"On behalf of Arkansas State University and its Athletics Department, we would like to thank Thomas for his dedicated service to A-State during his time as Deputy Athletics Director," said ASU System President Dr. Chuck Welch.  "The experience Thomas brought to this role was helpful to us in a number of areas, and we will always be grateful to him.  We look forward to his further work with the University for the remainder of the year."

Prior to A-State, Boeh's highly-successful background included stops with five different collegiate programs, but he most notably garnered national recognition for his 20 combined years as Director of Athletics at Fresno State (2005-14) and Ohio (1995-2005).  Both the Bulldogs and Bobcats enjoyed unprecedented achievements in all areas under Boeh's oversight, helping raise the profile of both programs across the country.

Jeff Purinton, a highly-respected and veteran athletics administrator who most recently spent the last seven years as part of the Alabama Athletics Department's executive staff, was announced by Welch as A-State's new Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics on May 4.  Purinton will complete a national search for the Red Wolves' Deputy Athletics Director position.
