CONWAY, Ark. (10/27/23) - At the UCA 3rd Fall Invitational shortened due to weather, the Arkansas State women's tennis team won three matches, all against host Central Arkansas.
Initially scheduled for a two-day event, rain forced a schedule change Friday and event organizers canceled play for Saturday based on the forecast. With an altered match schedule, A-State picked up two doubles victories and a singles win on the day.
Nejla Zukic and Yasmine Humbert teamed up for a 6-1 victory over the No. 1 pair from UCA. Sarah Millard and Abigail Thurmer earned the second doubles win with a 7-5 decision against the No. 2 pair from Central Arkansas. Emiliya Margolin and Rebecca Brody fell 6-2 in the third doubles matchup.
Brody earned the lone singles victory for A-State, topping Nanoka Kazama 6-3, 6-0. Marolin forced a decisive third-set tiebreak, but came up short to Tin-An Chen 6-1, 6-7 (4), 10-3. Zukic came up short 6-2, 6-4 while Humbert fell 6-4, 6-1. Millard lost 6-1, 6-2 and Thurmer was downed 6-1, 6-1.
A-State closes out the fall schedule Nov. 3-4 at the Ragin' Cajun Invite.
