Box Score HATTIESBURG, Miss. (4/22/23) – Closing out the regular season schedule, the Arkansas State women's tennis team fell 4-0 at Southern Miss Saturday afternoon.
A-State (2-17, 0-11 Sun Belt) dropped the doubles point with losses on court one and two. Sarah Millard and Sofia Vdovychenko fell 6-3 on court one and Rebecca Brody and Yasmine Humbert came up short 6-2 on court two. Abigail Thurmer and Anna Borovinskaya trailed 4-3 on court three when Southern Miss (7-11, 2-9 Sun Belt) clinched the doubles tally.
The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 advantage with Maddison Ricardo downing Thurmer 6-1, 6-0 on court five. Vdovychenko fell 6-2, 6-3 to Clara Tardivel on court three to make it 3-0 Southern Miss and Hannah Chambers downed Borovinskaya 6-3, 6-3 on court six to clinch the match 4-0. In unfinished matches, Millard trailed 7-5, 4-4 on court one, Brody trailed 7-5, 4-6 on court two, and Humbert trailed 4-6, 5-2 on court four.
The Red Wolves travel to Peachtree City, Ga., for the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championship held at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. A-State will face the No. 3 seed at 2 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, April 26, on ESPN+.
