A-State Finishes Runner-Up at Kat Klash

HOUSTON, Texas (11/3/24) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team rallied back from a 3-1 deficit in the championship match to force a game seven but fell to host Sam Houston to finish runner-up at the Kat Klash.

A-State (30-9) met No. 8 Sam Houston to open bracket play and was dealt a 4-1 setback. The Red Wolves took the opening game 182-155, but Sam Houston took the next four games to clinch its spot in the championship match. A-State met No. 11 Stephen F. Austin for the right to face Sam Houston in the championship. The two sides traded wins in the first two games, A-State winning game one 224-182 and SFA taking game two, 247-167, but the Red Wolves took the next three to advance.

Sam Houston built a 3-1 advantage in the championship match with wins of 187-168, 178-158 and 198-175 to offset the Red Wolves 223-200 tally in game two. A-State won game five by one pin, 194-193, to extend the match to six games and forced a decisive game seven with a 179-154 margin in the sixth game. Sam Houston strung together strikes in the back half of game seven to pull away 243-174 and clinch the title.

A-State closes out the fall portion of its schedule Nov. 8-10 in Kenosha, Wis., at the Ladyjack Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin. Live streaming is available on the Red Wolves Bowling YouTube page.
