JONESBORO, Ark. (2/1/24) - Having already matched its win total from last season, the Arkansas State women's tennis team hosts Lindenwood on Friday (Feb. 2) and Butler (Feb. 4) this weekend at the RidgePointe Tennis Center, located at 2510 Ridgepointe Drive.
A-State (2-2) is coming off a split in weekend matches against Missouri State and Oral Roberts. Missouri State got past the Red Wolves 4-1, but A-State bounced back to defeat Oral Roberts 4-1 to close out the second weekend of the dual season with two victories in tow.
"We took a huge step forward the last match and now the challenge is can we continue that momentum and keep building," A-State head coach
Sujay Lama said. "Playing at home is such a treat for us and we are very excited to see the debut of
Anna Grigoreva. She will definitely give us a huge lift and add to our depth."
Grigoreva, a fall signee and addition to the spring roster, is set to make her collegiate debut on Sunday. Grigoreva has a career-high No. 209 ITF rating, the highest of any player entering the A-State program in school history. Her career-high UTR is 9.67.
A-State meets Lindenwood (0-2) for the second consecutive season with first serve of the match set for 2:00 p.m. Friday. The Red Wolves traveled to St. Charles, Mo., to face the Lions and came away with a 6-1 victory. Butler enters the weekend at 3-2 on the season and will play the Red Wolves Sunday at 10:00 a.m. following a matchup with Lindenwood on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
