JONESBORO, Ark. (2/15/24) – The Arkansas State bowling team hosts the annual Mid-Winter Invitational presented by Kalmer Solutions this weekend at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center in Jonesboro.
A-State (52-13), ranked third nationally in the latest NTCA Poll, will bowl 13 matches over the three-day tournament that runs Friday through Sunday at Hijinx. All 13 of the Red Wolves matches will be streamed live on the A-State bowling YouTube page. Admission to Hijinx is FREE.
The Mid-Winter Invitational presented by Kalmer Solutions begins with five Baker matches starting at 10:00 a.m. Friday and continues Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with five traditional matches. Teams will be seeded based on total pinfall from the first two days for three best-of-seven Baker matches on Sunday to determine the champion. Following a senior day presentation at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, the first match of bracket play is scheduled for 8:00 a.m.
The 18-team field features 14 of the top-25 teams in the latest NTCA Poll, including eight of the top 10. The full field includes: No. 1 Jacksonville State, No. 2 Youngstown State, No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 6 Nebraska, No. 7 Louisiana Tech, No. 8 Stephen F. Austin, No. 10 Maryville, No. 11 Sam Houston, No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 16 Newman, No. 17 Oklahoma Christian, No. 23 McKendree, No. 24 Central Missouri, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Grambling and Jackson State.
Coming off a runner-up finish at the Prairie View Invitational, A-State opens play Friday against No. 11 Sam Houston. The Red Wolves also face No. 7 Louisiana Tech, No. 8 Stephen F. Austin, Jackson State and Alabama State in Baker matches on the first day of competition. Following the position round to begin Saturday's traditional matches, A-State will face No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 1 Jacksonville State, No. 2 Youngstown State and No. 17 Oklahoma Christian.
