NEW CASTLE, Del. (1/18/25) – The fifth-ranked Arkansas State women's bowling team was 3-2 in head-to-head traditional matches and enters bracket play ranked fifth among 38 teams at the Northeast Classic.
A-State (46-16) rolled 5,122 pins over five traditional matches and has totaled 10,295 pins to rank sixth. Nebraska leads the field with 10,779 pins followed by Jacksonville State (10,443), Youngstown State (10,435), Stephen F. Austin (10,395) and Sam Houston (10,381).
The Red Wolves opened the day with a 1,136-958 setback against No. 10 North Carolina A&T but rebounded with a 1,028-687 set against Holy Family University. Niagara edged A-State 1,084-970 in game three, but the Red Wolves closed out the day with a 1,090-971 win against No. 24 Mercyhurst and a 1,076-953 margin against Bryant.
Maggie Thoma paced the Red Wolves with a five-game total of 1,097 pins for an average of 219.4. Saralyne Nassberg (1,059), Karli VanDuinen (1,050) and Malaya Chavez (1,006) also topped 1,000 pins. Kaylee Back had a three-game total of 494 and Katie Rusczak had 416 pins in two games.
