HARAHAN, La. (11/23/25) – The sixth-ranked Arkansas State women's bowling team closed out the fall portion of the schedule winning the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane.
A-State (36-16) took Baker best-of-seven matches against No. 5 Wichita State, No. 2 Nebrask and No. 3 Vanderbilt to take home its first event title of the season.
The Red Wolves opened bracket play against No. 5 Wichita State and took the series in six games, 4-2. Falling behind 2-0 with marins of 198-172 and 237-202, A-State responded by winning each of the next four games. A-State took games three (189-185) and four (178-174) by four pins before closing out the match with tallies of 254-234 and 234-188.
Meeting No. 2 Nebraska for a place in the final, the Red Wolves outlasted the Huskers in seven games. After the two sides split the first two games, 219-149 for Nebraska in the opener and 232-157 for A-State in game two, Nebraska gained a 3-1 advantage taking games three (204-177) and five (245-192). The Red Wolves fought back and forced a game seven with advantage of 202-190 in game five and 192-184 in game six. A-State won game seven by nine pins, 224-215, to advance to the championship match.
The Red Wolves swept No. 3 Vanderbilt to bring home the title. A-State grabbed an early lead with a commanding 212-163 margin and a one-poin advantage in game two, 199-198, put the Red Wolves up 2-0. A-State cruised to 236-182 and 256-169 victories in games three and four, respectively, to clinch the title.
A-State opens the spring portion of the schedule Jan. 16-18 at the Northeast Classic hosted by Sacred Heart in New Castle, Del.
