FORT WORTH, Texas (11/7/25) – The sixth-ranked Arkansas State women's bowling team downed 5,158 pins to stand fourth among 16 teams after the first day of the Bulldog Classic at Cityview Lanes.
A-State (19-12) averaged 206.3 pins on the day and was 3-2 in head-to-head matches. Jacksonville State leads the field with 5,536 pins (221.4) with Nebraska (5,255) and Sacred Heart (5,162) also ahead of the Red Wolves. Wichita State (5,144), Vanderbilt (5,137), Louisiana Tech (5,057), Sam Houston (5,043), Tulane (4,738) and Oklahoma Christian (4,666) complete the top 10.
The Red Wolves opened the tournament with a 1,067-994 margin over No. 8 Sam Houston. A-State followed it up with a 1,033-873 triumph against Florida A&M, but dropped back-to-back clashes against No. 5 Wichita State (1,010-992) and No. 19 Tulane (980-933) to even the ledger at 2-2 on the day. The Red Wolves responded in the final match of the day with a 1,133-929 pin count against Texas Southern.
Position round matches against Sacred Heart and Jacksonville State begin the day for A-State on Saturday. The Red Wolves close out the afternoon with traditional matches against Nebraska, Louisiana Tech and Jackson State.
