Brenna McConaughey is entering her second year as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Fan Experience.
At A-State, McConaughey oversees the Red Wolves’ marketing and promotional efforts for all 16 intercollegiate sports while running game day production for football and men's basketball, serving as the licensing director, managing budgets, trade agreements, and supervising the marketing staff.
McConaughey arrived to Arkansas State from Syracuse, where she was the Marketing and Event Coordinator from 2011-2014. She served as the game producer for football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and men’s and women's lacrosse at Syracuse. During her tenure, the Orange established on-campus attendance records in men’s basketball with 35,012 fans in 2013 and 35,446 spectators in 2014. McConaughey, who was the school’s IMG liaison and in-house graphic designer, was recognized as the Young Professional of the Month (March 2013) by the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and was a NACMA Gold Award recipient in 2014.
While at Syracuse, McConaughey planned and executed several special events, such as the New York’s College Classic (annual game at MetLife Stadium), the ‘Cuse Awards, Orange Madness, Spring Game, and Fan Fest. She also was co-creator and advisor to the ‘Cuse Crew, a group of undergraduate students who work game operations for non-revenue sports. As a licensing assistant, McConaughey managed the Syracuse brand, developing a new product line with Homage and approving artwork requests.
McConaughey, who has served on NACMA’s Professional Development committee and is a participant in the mentoring program, was the marketing associate at Wichita (Kan.) State University for two years (2009-11). She had primary responsibilities in men's basketball, women's volleyball, and softball. McConaughey coordinated the School House Rocks with the Shocks promotion, which was selected as the 2011 NCAA Pack the House winner for the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).
A native of Atchison, Kan., McConaughey is a 2006 graduate of Kansas State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising. A 2002 Leadership Scholar, McConaughey served as the Phi Eta Sigma President (2004-05) and was a Lead Ambassador for the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications (2005-06). She received her Master’s of Education degree in Sport Management from Wichita State in 2011 and held an officer position in the Sport Management Student Association.
McConaughey, who resides in Jonesboro, Ark., is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), The National Asssociation of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), and International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA).
