Arkansas State head football coach Steve Roberts announced on April 13, 2010, that Adam Federle, who spent last season as the defensive tackles coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Central Arkansas and is a former defensive graduate assistant under Roberts at ASU, has been named the Red Wolves' new defensive line coach.

"When it became apparent that this was going to happen, Coach (Kevin) Corless and I both kept coming back to trying to pursue Adam Federle for this position," said Roberts.  "He has a great familiarity with our program, shared a tremendous amount of responsibility with Coach Peoples when he was here as an assistant defensive line coach.  He is a great person and cares about the student-athletes and is a great defensive line coach. We are very excited about him beginning his tenure here at Arkansas State."

Federle was part of UCA's defensive coaching staff that helped guide the Bears to the No. 1 ranking in the Southland Conference in total defense, scoring defense, passing defense, rushing defense, tackles for loss, first downs defense and red zone efficiency defense.  Federle helped coach UCA's defense that featured defensive end Larry Hart, the 2009 Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Prior to joining the UCA staff, Federle spent the 2006-08 seasons as a graduate assistant coach under Roberts at ASU.  During that time, ASU ranked No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference in total defense in 2007 and No. 2 in 2006 and 2008.  Federle worked with 2008 Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year Alex Carrington and also spent time coaching current players such as All-Sun Belt Conference selection Bryan Hall.

In addition to working with the defensive line while at ASU, Federle was also the offensive scout team coordinator and was involved with defensive film break down, weekly scouting reports and recruiting evaluations.  Federle earned his master's degree from Arkansas State University in December of 2008.

"I'm extremely excited to be back at Arkansas State working with coach Roberts and this coaching staff," said Federle.  "They have done an unbelievable job here and I look forward to helping build on the success this program has achieved and pursuing a Sun Belt Conference championship."

A May 2006 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, Federle received his degree with a major in political science and a minor in business administration.  While at OBU, he was a three-year starter for the football team and led the team in total tackles as a sophomore and senior (in 2003
and 2005). A team captain during the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Federle was named National Honorable Mention Defensive Player of the Week as a sophomore.
