Amy Bowman made the quick transition from student-athlete to assistant coach after exhausting her eligibility at Arkansas State just a few seasons ago.  She is entering her second season as a hurdles coach on the Red Wolves staff.

Bowman (formerly Fleddermann) set the Sun Belt Conference indoor record in the women's pentathlon Feb. 25, 2007 at the SBC Championship meet, scoring a total 3,740 points in the event.  She topped the field again during the 2009 season scoring just two points shy of her record at the Iowa State Classic.  Also in 2009, she claimed the top spot in the conference in the outdoor heptathlon championship with 4,958 points, qualifying for the NCAA Regional in two events.

Both pentathlon performances top the all-time chart at ASU, while her heptathlon performance ranks fourth.  She holds eight additional top-ten rankings in Arkansas State history.  Bowman's 100-meter hurdles time of 14.78 on May 4, 2007 stands as the current record in that event at the ASU Outdoor Track Complex.

She was also named to the SBC Commissioner's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all three years of her career at ASU.  Amy earned a Business degree from Arkansas State and is married to former fellow track athlete Derek Bowman.
