Jason Brooks, one of the top sprinters in Arkansas State University history, joined the staff as an assistant track and field coach in the spring of 2007. Brooks serves as the spring coach for the Red Wolves.

“Jason has been my number one guy from the beginning,” said Badeaux. “He has great recruiting ties, he has a strong chemistry with the teams, he has great leadership qualities, and he has a great rapport with people and understands how the practice programs work.

“He also brings instant credibility through his accomplishments. When I visit with a 400-meter runner, I tell them we have a coach on our staff who has run a 46 in that event and that gets his attention.”

Brooks, who graduated from ASU in December 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, is a three-time NCAA qualifier in the 400-meter dash and once as part of ASU’s 4x100-meter relay squad.

“I love coaching," said Brooks.  "And, I can’t image any better place to be than Arkansas State. It means a lot to me to coach at the university I attended and know that the athletic administration and Coach Badeaux believe in me.”

Brooks, from Memphis, Tenn., owns the fifth-fastest outdoor time at ASU in the 400 with 46.71 and has run 47.75 indoors, which also ranks fifth-best all-time in school history. He also rewrote his own schedule record in 2007 in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:11.59. In addition, he has competed occasionally in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles.
