MISSOURI DOWNS INDIANS, 44-17

KANSAS CITY, Mo.?Antonio Warren rushed for 121-yards and a score but couldn't help the Indians of Arkansas State take down the Tigers of Missouri in a 44-17 loss on Saturday.

The game, played in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., was hosted by the Indians (0-1), but the partisan Missouri crowd made sure the host was reduced to visitor support as the new Tiger offense marched up and down the field.

Tiger quarterback Brad Smith had a field day against ASU after throwing for 317-yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 95-yards on the day. Smith was never tackled for a loss.

Missouri (1-0) jumped to a 37-0 lead after Smith connected with Brad Ekwerekwu for a 7-yard scoring play that capped an 11 play drive that consumed 68-yards. ASU kicker Eric Neihouse booted a field goal at the 3:37 mark of the third quarter to put the Indians on the board, but the game was well on the way to the final outcome by then.

ASU quarterback Nick Noce tossed for 188-yards and a score to lead the ASU offensive attack to 323 yards of total offense.

For the Tigers, however, the new spread offense installed after last season racked up 657-yards on the day, including a whopping 317-yards on the ground.

The Indians will return to Jonesboro to begin preparations for Tennessee-Martin on Sept. 10.
