The Arkansas State University Athletic Department, along with East Arkansas Broadcasters, announced Friday that radio station KWHF 95.9 FM “The Wolf” will become the flagship station for ASU football for the 2007 season.
“This is another step in showing our commitment to the Arkansas State University athletic program, and to expose our broadcast to as many people as possible.” said Bobby Caldwell, owner and CEO of East Arkansas Broadcasters. “This is just part of East Arkansas Broadcasters' continued commitment to the university as a whole.”
“The Wolf” a 34,000-watt station located in Jonesboro, will give an increased number of Indian fans throughout a greater portion of Northeast Arkansas the opportunity to follow the Tribe during the upcoming seasons.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to be on ?The Wolf,' and to expand our network here in Jonesboro,” said Dean Lee, Director of Athletics at Arkansas State University. “We are greatly appreciative of Bobby Caldwell and East Arkansas Broadcasters for the tremendous service that they are providing for ASU fans, and look forward to the continuation of our partnership as we expand our radio network even further in the future.”
“The Wolf” will begin broadcasting ASU games when the Indians kick off the 2007 football season Sept. 1 against the University of Texas, in Austin. All 12 of the Indians' football games can be heard on KWHF, as well as any bowl game the Indians might participate in.
“It is very exciting to make the move to ?The Wolf',” said Matt Stolz, who serves as the Voice of the Indians for the football, baseball, and men's basketball teams. “We look forward to delivering a great on-air product to go along with a great on-the-field product.”
Stolz will continue to provide play-by-play for ASU men's athletics, while Bill Keedy will again provide color analysis for the upcoming football season.
