DeMoney to Continue Baseball Career at Arkansas State

JONESBORO (7/25/08) ? Madison, Miss., outfielder Josh DeMoney has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball career at Arkansas State, ASU Head Coach Tommy Raffo announced Friday.

DeMoney, a 5'10” 190-pound left-hander, played the past two seasons at Meridian Community College in Meridian, Miss., where he hit .395 with 16 doubles, three home runs and a pair of triples.  DeMoney struck out just 11 times in 148 at-bats.

“We are extremely excited about Josh joining the Arkansas State baseball program,” said Raffo.  “He is a left-handed hitting outfielder from a strong junior college program.  Josh is a very tough out at the plate and hit for a high average.  He brings a dimension that will help our offense.”

DeMoney played high school baseball at Madison (Miss.) Central, where he was a Class 5A All-State selection, leading Madison Central to four district championships and one North State Championship during his career.  He was named All-Metro, and was twice named All-County and All-Division.  He was selected to play in the Crossroads All-Star Game and was named one of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger's “Seniors to Watch.”

As a sophomore at Meridian CC, he helped lead the Eagles to the 2008 MACJC State Championship and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Academic Honor Society.
