Third ASU Scarlet Scramble of 2010 Held in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. (6/18/10) - Arkansas State Athletics held its third Scarlet Scramble this summer at the Paragould Country Club on Thursday, June 17.  Paragould was the host site of a Scarlet Scramble for the 24th time.

The tournament was ASU's next to last Scarlet Scramble of the summer, with the final outing planned for July 12 in Blytheville.  ASU's first Scarlet Scramble this year was played June 2 in Osceola, while the second was played in Newport on June 11.  ASU's four Scarlet Scrambles all lead up to the ASU Open, scheduled for Oct. 1 at Sage Meadows Golf Club in Jonesboro. The winning team at each of the four scrambles earns a free spot in the ASU Open.

A total of 21 teams competed in the Paragould tournament, the most in recent history, with 84 total golfers raising around $6,000.
Winning the event and a free spot in the ASU Open with a score of 16-under par was the team of Jeff Block, Sam Hays and Tyler Hays.  With a score of 14-under par, the team of Jeremy Moore, Gary Burnside and Troy Langford and came in second place.  Also shooting a 14-under par and earning a third-place finish was the team of Melvin Wamock, Jason Weatherford and Brad Brengard.
