JONESBORO, Ark. (4/3/26) — Arkansas State University Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Pezman announced Friday that Dr. Cliff Harrell has expanded his role as Deputy Athletics Director, adding external operations to his existing responsibilities.
In his expanded position, Harrell will now serve as the department's primary liaison to University Advancement and Athletics Ticketing strategies and operations, while also managing A-State Athletics' revenue-producing partnership with LEARFIELD.
Harrell's added responsibilities as a liaison between the Athletics Department and University Advancement align with the university's "One Pack" strategy. His expanded duties come in addition to his continued leadership of Student-Athlete Services, including oversight of the academics and compliance units.
"Cliff is an exceptional administrator, and his leadership, professionalism, and relationship-driven approach make him uniquely qualified for this expanded role," said Pezman. "As we continue to elevate our department's national brand, competitiveness and financial strength, Cliff's ability to bridge internal and external priorities will be invaluable.
Strengthening our collaboration with University Advancement, optimizing ticketing, and maximizing our LEARFIELD partnership are critical pillars of our long-term growth."
Since joining A-State Athletics in October of last year, Harrell has overseen significant enhancements to student-athlete support systems, academic performance outcomes, and compliance structure. His broadened responsibilities position him to also play a central role in the department's strategy around revenue generation, fan engagement, and philanthropic partnerships.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue serving A-State in this expanded capacity," Harrell said. "Our student-athletes, our coaches, and our supporters deserve the very best, and I'm excited to help strengthen the connections that drive our mission forward. I look forward to working even more closely with University Advancement and our external units as we build on the momentum across Red Wolves Athletics."
Harrell will continue leading Student-Athlete Services while partnering with senior leadership, university stakeholders, and external partners to advance the department's strategic initiatives.
