ASU Basketball Lends Helping Hand At NEA Food Bank

JONESBORO, Ark. (10/20/11) – Three members of the Arkansas State men's basketball team lent a helping hand Thursday at the Northeast Arkansas food bank.

Sophomore Ed Townsel, junior Bryce Clark and assistant coach Jeff Clapacs took time out of their busy preseason schedule to help move and box up food for those in need. Each season, ASU has made a commitment to giving back to the Jonesboro community and this is the second community service project the ASU men's basketball team has participated in this week.

The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas works to eliminate hunger by distributing food to people in need through a network of non-profit agencies and programs.

Since 1983 the Food Bank has distributed more than 25 million pounds of food throughout Northeast Arkansas. The Food Bank's distribution system accepts donated bulk food, that would otherwise be destroyed, from local and national manufacturers, retailers and growers. This food is then stored and efficiently redistributed to charitable agencies that rely upon the Food Bank to provide nutritious food for their communities.
