NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (2/13/16) – Competing in its first spring tournament this season, the Arkansas State women's golf team completed the Texas State Invitational's first round Monday in 16th place after shooting a 326 at The Bandit Golf Club.
Today's play was suspended in the latter stages of the second round due to darkness. Round two will resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, immediately followed by the third and final round. All groupings have five or fewer or holes to play in round two.
The Red Wolves were led by sophomore Beth Ann Compton, who posted a 75 to place her tied for 19th.
A-State entered the second round six strokes behind both Boise State and Xavier, which were tied for 14th place. Georgia Southern, Central Arkansas and UT San Antonio all ended the opening round tied for first place.
Following Compton for A-State, Emma Miller finished the first round tied for 66th place with an 82. Maci Brooks is tied for 71st place after carding an 83.
Also competing for the Red Wolves, Kirsten Garner and Marisa Marquez, participating as an individual, both shot an 86 to place them tied for 84th. Grayson Gladden is tied for 90th with an 87.
