LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (10/17/20) – Arkansas State cross country ran in its final tune-up ahead of the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Championships on Saturday, with several Red Wolves competing in the Little Rock Open.
A-State's women earned a fourth-place team result, with Sophia Oury earning a top-10 result in the women's 5K, placing ninth in 19:07.0. Madison Grimm placed 21st overall in 20:04.5 while Kayla Wade ran a personal-best 20:29.2 to place 28th. Katharina Schmidt was the fifth Red Wolf to cross the line, doing so in 20:37.4. Megan Adams (35th – 20:54.2) and Eva Wilk (52nd – 22:34.1) rounded out A-State's runners.
In the men's 8K, freshman Jacob Pyeatt was 19th in 28:00.6 while fellow rookie Brady Pascoe placed 24th in 28:36.0. Alejandro Vargas clocked a time of 29:56.5 to place 33rd and Garrett Becker crossed in 30:26.9 to place 37th.
The Red Wolves close out the 2020 cross country season on Oct. 31, traveling to Mobile, Alabama, for the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Championships. A-State looks to defend its title on the women's side, while the men look to best last season's runner-up finish.
