@AStateBaseball Claims Sun Belt Conference Academic Award

JONESBORO, Ark. (10/30/20) – After registering a respectable 3.36 GPA for the 19-20 academic year, the Arkansas State baseball team claimed the Sun Belt Conference Team Academic Award by having the highest GPA among all SBC baseball programs.

"We are so proud of this academic accomplishment", said A-State head baseball coach Tommy Raffo.  "It shows the perseverance and hard work our baseball student-athletes put in during these challenging times.  We appreciate this honor for the A-State Baseball program. I would also like to recognize and thank our academic coordinator Nate Carr for all he has done to insure our team is successful in the classroom."

A-State had 31 players earn 3.0 or higher, and nine players notch a 3.7 or above. This accolade marks the second academic award for the Red Wolves in the 2019-20 academic year.

The Red Wolves were one of 420 programs from all levels of collegiate baseball and high school baseball to earn an award, and A-State was just one of 63 Division I teams to receive an ABCA award, announced in June.

Additionally, the Sun Belt announced earlier this month that A-State recorded the league's top overall GPA with a 3.48 mark for the 2019-20 academic year.  The Red Wolves placed 228 student-athletes on either the Commissioner's List or Academic Honor Roll.
