DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (4/17/21) – After a 732 day wait, the Arkansas State women's golf team will tee off Sunday in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship at LPGA International Hills Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
A-State is among four teams ranked in the Top-100 of the latest GolfStat rankings. Ranked No. 97, the Red Wolves are joined by No. 65 Texas State, No. 72 Coastal Carolina and No. 75 South Alabama. The Red Wolves are coming off a tournament title in their last outing, winning the Diane Daughtery Invitational back on March 29-30. Entering the weekend, A-State has a scoring average of 298.05, second-best in program history. It marks the seventh-straight season the Red Wolves have a top-seven scoring average.
Olivia Schmidt leads the Red Wolves with a 73.38 scoring average to rank fifth among the Sun Belt Conference players ahead of the tournament. She enters the weekend with the top scoring average in program history, just ahead of the record set by teammate
Grayson Gladden last season of 73.52. Gladden enters with a 74.29 average to rank 12th in the league while
Elise Schultz is 15th at 74.67.
Sydni Leung (23rd – 75.50) and
Kayla Burke (45th – 77.33) are also in the top-50 and round out the Red Wolves lineup this week.
A-State is set to tee off between 7:00 a.m. and 7:36 a.m. on the first tee with ULM and Troy. All three rounds of the 54-hole championship will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and live scoring will be available on GolfStat.
