DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (4/17/21) – Opening play at the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship, the Arkansas State women's golf team shot a first-round 297 on the Arthur Hills Course at the LPGA International to put it in fifth place among 11 teams.

The Red Wolves were led by three players completing the three-day tournament's initial round among the top-20 individual leaders, including
Grayson Gladden in a tie for 12th place.

A-State ended the day the with a four-stroke lead over Troy for fifth place. The Red Wolves are two strokes of fourth-place South Alabama, while Texas State leads the field with a 279. Coastal Carolina posted a first-round 284 to rank second while Georgia Southern is third totaling 292.

Gladden carded two birdies, 13 pars and three bogeys for a 1-over par 73 to rank tied for 12th individually.
Olivia Schmidt and
Elise Schultz are tied for 20th after opening-rounds of 2-over 74.
Kayla Burke carded a 4-over par 76 to rank tied for 26th while
Sydni Leung is tied for 54th at 13-over par.

A-State is set to tee off the second round between 7:00 a.m. and 7:36 a.m. on the first tee with Troy and South Alabama. The second round of the 54-hole championship will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and live scoring will be available on GolfStat.
