CONWAY, Ark. (2/10/22) – Dropping a tiebreak that determined the doubles point, the Arkansas State women's tennis team fell short at Central Arkansas 5-2 Friday afternoon.
The doubles pair of
Yasmine Humbert and
Sofia Vdovychenko earned a 6-3 decision on court two, but the doubles pair of
Emily Surcey and
Rebecca Brody came up short, 6-4, on court three. On court one,
Thea Rice and
Nejla Zukic battled to a tie break, but the UCA pair came away with the 7-5 decision to determine the doubles point.
Playing in the No. 1 singles position, Rice won 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 over Chunxi Xin. Surcey won in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, over Yada Vasupongchai on court three. Brody fell in the third set, 4-6, 6-0, 2-6, to Mei Ishimura while Zukic, Vdovychenko and Humbert were dealt straight-set defeats.
