DALLAS, Texas (2/12/22) – A 4-1 day in traditional matches moved the Arkansas State bowling team to 8-1 overall and atop the total pinfall count at the Lady Techsters Classic heading into the final day of competition Sunday.
A-State (42-19), ranked seventh nationally, earned three wins over top-10 ranked sides and tops the 11-team total pinfall with 9,730 pins (194.6). The Red Wolves opened the day with a 998-922 margin over No. 8 Stephen F. Austin. A 941-864 victory against No. 5 Louisiana Tech followed before A-State dropped a 971-931 decision to Prairie View A&M. The Red Wolves rebounded to down No. 21 Lincoln Memorial 1,089-897 and No. 4 Vanderbilt 1,050-945. The 1,089 total against Lincoln Memorial marked a season-best traditional pinfall while the 1,050 ties for third.
Individually, A-State had three players in the top five individually and four of the top 10 with four bowlers averaging over 200 pins.
Sarah Sanes paced the Red Wolves with 1,021 pins for an average of 204.20 to rank third. Sanes had a high game of 216 and all five of his games were over 200.
Brooklyn Buchanan ranked fourth in the individual standings rolling 1,020 pins, an average of 204.00, including a high game of 230.
Faith Welch ranked fifth after rolling 1,011 pins, an average of 202.20, and a high game of 221.
Montana Meyer downed 1,001 pins, an average of 200.20, with a high game of 227.
