LOS ANGELES/AUBURN, Ala. (4/15/22) – Arkansas State's track and field teams continued its stellar week on Friday, competing out in Los Angeles in a pair of meets as well as at the War Eagle Invitational at Auburn.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Seth Waters broke his own school record in the men's 1500m, clocking a time of 3:44.20. Bennett Pascoe finished close behind, registering a 3:44.51 time to move up to second all-time in the event.
Aimar Palma Simo advanced to the final of the Mt. SAC Relays men's hammer throw, hurling a personal-best 66.08m (216-9.0) to place fifth in the prelims. In the women's prelims, Chastery Fuamatu just missed the cut, tossing a personal-best 57.86m (189-10.0).
Cheyenne Melvin posted a strong mark in the women's 800m at Mt. SAC, finishing in 2:09.84.
Rainee Bowers and Ke'Von Holder competed in the 100m hurdles and 110m hurdles respectively, with Bowers crossing in 14.08 and Holder in 14.24.
A-State also opened up weekend competition in Auburn on Friday. Osereme Erewele placed fourth in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.81m (19-0.75) while Marina McDonough placed 12th in the women's steeplechase, finishing in 11:55.01.
