CORVALLIS, Ore. (10/9/23) - The Arkansas State men's golf team is second among 14 teams after 36 holes of the Oregon State Invitational played at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

Sixth in the team standings after an opening round 5-over par 289, A-State was the only team under par in the second round climbing four spots to second ahead of the final round Tuesday. A-State finished 3-under par 281 in the second round for its seventh par or better round in 11 rounds played this season. Oregon State leads the event at 6-under par with Washington State (+7), Idaho (+10) and Utah (+11) rounding out the top five.  

Thomas Schmidt was 1-over par in the first round, but 3-under par in the second round to tie for fourth, three strokes back of Jackson Lake of Oregon State for the individual lead. With the 3-under par 68 in the second round, Schmidt has posted eight par or better rounds this season. Pierce Johnson is tied for 11th with a total of even-par 142 after posting his eighth par or better round with a 1-under par 70 in the second round. Chris Somerfield is tied for 22nd at 3-over par 145 (71-74), Jack Maxey is tied for 32nd at 4-over par 146 (77-69) and Jake Lile is tied for 66th at 9-over par 151 (74-77).
