PITTSBURG, Kan./BOSTON, Mass. (12/7/24) – A school record and six event titles highlighted Saturday's competition for Arkansas State track and field, which had athletes competing in Pittsburg, Kan., and in Boston, Mass.
Jacob Pyeatt broke his own school record in the men's 5000 meters, running a time of 13:55.40 – over 10 seconds faster than his previous record – while Nati Enright moved up to third in school history in the event with a mark of 14:20.29.
Colby Eddowes won the heptathlon at the Boo Rogers Combined Events, finishing with 5,717 points.
Noa Isaia captured the men's weight throw title at the Crimson and Gold Invitational, tossing a career-best 18.65m (61-2). Chris Boyd placed 13th (15.47m/59-9) and Cameron Slavin was 18th (13.69m/44-11). Michelle Ogbemudia won the women's weight throw, hurling a meet-record 20.59m (67-7).
In the men's shot put, Willem Coertzen threw a personal-best 18.47m (60-7.25) to win the event. Menachem Chen moved to 10th all-time with a fifth-place throw of 17.01m (55-9.75), while Boyd was sixth with a toss of personal-best 16.90m (55-5.25).
Selase Sampram won the women's shot put, throwing the implement 15.84m (51-11.5), while Ogbemudia was second (15.14m/49-8). Liya Guy recorded a personal best, throwing 12.28m (40-3.5).
In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Tyra Nabors ran a personal-best 8.42 to win, with Kiara Strayhorn running 8.56 to place third and move to seventh in school history. Strayhorn also earned a runner-up finish in the women's high jump, clearing a personal-best 1.69m (5-6.5).
Will Glass won the men's 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 7.86, while Josh Jones came in ninth (8.10).
Bradley Jelmert finished atop the leaderboard once again in the men's pole vault, clearing 5.47m (17-11.25). Jacob Dorrell and Gavin Schaer finished seventh and eighth with a clearance of 4.73m (15-6.25) while John Carswell and Brandon Love tied for 13th, vaulting 4.58m (15-0.25).
In the 3000 meters in Boston, Evan Stevens moved up to sixth in school history with a time of 8:16.73. Sammy Mason ran in the women's race, with her time of 9:41.90 ranking fourth in program history.
Kamil Przybyla ran the mile at Pitt State, placing third with a time of 4:10.35 to rank seventh in school history.
A-State's men's 4x400-meter relay squad ran 3:15.59 in a fourth-place finish, ranking sixth in school history. Malik Hall clocked a 60-meter time of 6.82 to tie for seventh in program history, placing fourth overall.
