A-State Men’s Hoops to Host Six Non-Conference Tests in 2024-25 Season

8/7/2024 9:53:00 AM

JONESBORO, Ark. (8/7/24) – Arkansas State men's basketball is set to host six games as part of a marquee non-conference slate in the highly-anticipated 2024-25 season, as second-year head coach Bryan Hodgson announced A-State's non-league schedule Wednesday.

The Red Wolves – coming off one of the best seasons in program history and their first postseason berth since 1999 – will be inside First National Bank Arena six times, while also facing three road tests in addition to competing in a holiday tournament in The Bahamas. The 2024-25 non-conference schedule features four opponents that reached the postseason a year ago, including three in the NCAA Tournament (Akron, Alabama, UAB).

A-State opens the campaign with back-to-back games against foes that reached the NCAA Tournament last season. The Red Wolves begin at home on Nov. 4, hosting reigning MAC Tournament champion Akron in the MAC-SBC Challenge. A-State then travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take on Alabama – a team coming off a strong Final Four run that is anticipated as a preseason national championship pick – on Nov. 8.

The Red Wolves return home for three straight home games, battling in-state rival Little Rock (Nov. 12), Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 16) and Lane College (Nov. 22).

After the home stand, A-State travels to the Bahamas for the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship in the Bahamas (Nov. 29-Dec. 1). A tournament schedule will be announced at a later date.

A-State then returns home Dec. 5 to host Jackson State before traveling across state lines to renew a long-running rivalry with Memphis inside the FedEx Forum on Dec. 8.

Former Sun Belt Conference foe UT Arlington then travels to Jonesboro on Dec. 12, followed by A-State's pre-conference finale at reigning AAC Tournament champion UAB on Dec. 15. The final non-conference outing – the second game of the MAC-SBC Challenge – will be held Feb. 8 at a MAC opponent to be determined in January.
