JONESBORO, Ark. (9/20/24) – Arkansas State cross country is set for its second meet of the 2024 season, returning to Memphis for the second time on the year for the Rhodes Invitational.
Action at Shelby Farms Park begins at 8 a.m. with the men's 8K race, followed by the women's 6K run at approximately 8:50 a.m. Live results can be found here.
THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
1. BACK IN THE LAND OF THE DELTA BLUES: Saturday's race marks the second time this season that Arkansas State is competing in Memphis after opening the year at the Memphis Twilight Classic. A-State's women's team placed third in the team standings, while the men were sixth.
2. DYNAMIC DEBUTS: A total of 13 runners (8 women, 5 men) made their Arkansas State debuts at the Memphis Twilight Classic. New faces also paced the squads individually, with Maja Dzialoszewska finishing 10th for the women and freshman Avinash Patel placing 14th in the men's 4-mile race.
3. PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATION: Arkansas State was picked to finish at or near the top of the Sun Belt Conference in the 2024 preseason coaches poll, with the women's team picked to take the crown and men being picked second. In the USTFCCCA preseason regional rankings, A-State clocked in at fifth in the men's rankings and the women were ninth.
