A-State Baseball Announces 31 Additions to 2025 Roster

JONESBORO, Ark. (9/23/24) – The Arkansas State baseball program has added 31 newcomers ahead of the 2025 campaign, head coach Mike Silva announced Monday.
 
"I would like to commend Chris Joblin, Cody Livingston, and Jerry Cervantez for their hard work over the summer," Coach Silva said. "We felt like we had a variety of needs we needed to address, and we feel like we addressed a majority of those. They'll provide our team an extremely competitive fall with a good mixture of high school, junior college, and transfer portal additions."
 
The class includes 13 junior college and 10 Division-I transfers along with six freshmen, two Division-II transfers, and one NAIA addition.
 
Thirteen different states and one territory (Puerto Rico) are represented in the class.
 
Bios on the Red Wolves' 2024 additions are below.
 
KADEN ADMUNDSON | R/R | C | OSTEGO, MINN. | NICHOLLS
Kaden Admundson arrives in Jonesboro after two seasons at Nicholls, where he made 86 appearances and 73 starts. The 5-10 righty hit .246 at the plate with 49 runs scored, 31 RBIs, and nine extra-base hits. In the field, the Ostego, Minnesota, native accumulated 574 putouts with a .992 fielding percentage. He posted a .264 batting average and notched four multi-hit games in 2024. Admundson hit .309 with 13 RBIs and six stolen bases with the St. Cloud Rox of the Northwoods League this summer.
 
ANDREW ALLEN | RHP | OHATCHEE, ALA. | ALEXANDRIA HS
A highly-decorated right-handed pitcher in high school, Andrew Allen signed with A-State following an impressive senior campaign. The Ohatchee, Alabama, native was named the 2024 5A Pitcher of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and earned First Team All-State recognition after leading the Alexandria Valley Cubs to a state title. The ASWA also named Allen to their Super All-State Team, which includes the top 10 players in the state regardless of classification.
 
NICHOLAS ALONSO | R/R | OF | MIAMI, FLA. | LOUISIANA TECH
Nicholas Alonso transfers to A-State after two seasons at Louisiana Tech. He redshirted in 2023 and did not see action for the Bulldogs in 2024. The outfielder spent two summers with the Futures Collegiate League's Westfield Starfires and Mino Hot Tots of the Northwoods League. He batted .252 with 23 RBIs and 15 stolen bases for both teams. Prior to his stint in Ruston, Alonso was a First Team All-District and First Team All-Dade at Belen Jesuit Preparatory in Miami, Florida.
 
AYDEN ALSOBROOKS | L/L | OF | PICAYUNE, MISS. | EAST MISSISSIPPI CC
Ayden Alsobrooks will don the Scarlet and Black after two seasons at East Mississippi Community College, where he started in 93 games over 100 appearances. The outfielder hit .298 during that span with 71 runs scored and 59 RBIs. The 2024 All-MACCC Honorable Mention tied for the team lead in doubles (10) and led outright in triples (8) while posting a .305 batting average last season.
 
DRAKE ANDERSON | R/R | INF | PUYALLUP, WASH. | NICHOLLS
2024 All-Southland Second Team (Utility) selection Drake Anderson joins the Red Wolves after one season at Nicholls. He began his career at Washington State, hitting .250 over seven games and two starts in 2022. The 5-9 infielder then spent the 2023 campaign at Tacoma Community College before transferring to Nicholls. He appeared in 51 games and started in 48, recording 32 RBIs and 12 extra-base hits while swiping a team-leading 12 bases.
 
DAVID BARKER | RHP | CASEYVILLE, ILL. | O'FALLON HS
Right-handed pitcher David Barker signed with A-State out of O'Fallon High School, where he made 22 starts over 31 appearances and posted a 15-5 record over three seasons. In 2024, the Caseyville, Illinois, native made 11 starts in 12 appearances, recording a 1.98 ERA over 63 innings pitched en route to a 7-2 record. He finished the 2023 campaign with a 1.17 ERA and an 8-2 record over 59 innings pitched. Barker was named a 2024 Perfect Game Preseason All-American and an All-Region selection.
 
MICHAEL BARKER | RHP | CASEYVILLE, ILL. | O'FALLON HS
Michael Barker joins his brother in Jonesboro after concluding his high school career at O'Fallon. In two seasons, the 2024 Perfect Game Preseason All-American tallied 55 strikeouts over 54.1 innings pitched. He posted a 3.80 ERA over 13 appearances and four starts in 2024, taking the mound for 27 innings. According to Perfect Game, Barker ranked 79th among right-handed pitchers in Illinois for the 2024 class.
 
ZAC BUTLER | R/R | C | COLUMBUS, MISS. | EAST MISSISSIPPI CC
Zac Butler joins the Red Wolves after two seasons at East Mississippi Community College. The catcher put together a solid sophomore campaign in 2024, batting .295 at the plate with 16 RBIs and three home runs. Butler played an important role in East Mississippi's first 30-win season since 2014, which resulted in the program's third consecutive postseason appearance.
 
JEREMIAH CABUYABAN | R/R | IF | KANSAS CITY, MO. | METROPOLITAN CC
An All-State Honorable Mention in high school, Jeremiah Cabuyaban began his collegiate career at Drury University, appearing in 18 games and starting in five. He slashed .320/.452/.440 with eight hits, an RBI, and a home run in 2023. The infielder spent last season at Metropolitan Community College, hitting .381 with 46 RBIs and 12 home runs over 51 games while posting a slugging percentage of .713.
 
GRIFFIN DUVALL | R/R | IF | BROOKLAND, ARK. | BROOKLAND HS
Griffin Duvall makes the short move to A-State after finishing his high school career at Brookland High School as the third-ranked shortstop in Arkansas according to Perfect Game. The infielder was named a 2024 Perfect Game Preseason All-American and is a two-time Perfect Game Underclassmen All-American. He recorded a .365 batting average and swiped 19 bases in his final season with the Bearcats, earning back-to-back 4A Region 3 All-Conference honors as a result. Duvall ranked 34th overall among 2024 high school prospects in Arkansas.
 
PATRICK ENGSKOV | R/R | UTL | LITTLE ROCK, ARK. | OKLAHOMA
Two-way player Patrick Engskov returns to his home state following two seasons at Oklahoma. The Little Rock native played in the infield for the Sooners, appearing in 19 games and starting in three. He scored three runs and stole a base over 11 games in 2023.
 
BRETT FOSS | RHP | PROSPER, TEXAS | SOUTH ARKANSAS CC
South Arkansas ace Brett Foss arrives in Jonesboro after two seasons with the Stars, where he posted an 18-8 record with a 2.93 ERA and struck out 153 batters over 166 innings pitched. The righty helped lead the program to back-to-back NJCAA Division-II World Series appearances, guiding his team to victory in both of his postseason starts. Foss allowed three runs over 12 innings and struck out 12 batters in postseason play.
 
NOAH GADBERRY | LHP | SIKESTON, MO. | DELTA STATE
Left-handed pitcher Noah Gadberry joins the Red Wolves after two seasons at Delta State. He redshirted in his first year before seeing action at the plate during the next season. Gadberry made 10 appearances and started in six during the 2024 campaign, hitting .333 with two doubles and an RBI over 21 at-bats. The 2022 Perfect Game Preseason All-American also spent two summers with the Cape Catfish of the Prospect League, recording a 4-2 record while posting 41 strikeouts and a 2.93 ERA over 46.0 innings pitched.
 
GAVIN GALY | RHP | ORLANDO, FLA. | NICHOLLS
Nicholls transfer Gavin Galy will don the Scarlet and Black following three seasons with the Colonels. He recorded a 3-3 record with three saves and posted a 3.92 ERA while tallying 65 strikeouts. The 2024 Preseason All-Southland selection held opponents to a .192 batting average in 2024, including a .162 clip against conference foes. He threw four hitless innings with six strikeouts in the SLC Tournament last season. Galy was named to the 2023 All-Southland Second Team as a relief pitcher.
 
COOPER GARRISON | RHP | GULFPORT, MISS. | EAST MISSISSIPPI CC
Cooper Garrison transfers to A-State following two seasons at East Mississippi Community College. The righty began his college career as an infielder, batting .273 over 12 plate appearances with two runs scored and an RBI in 2023. He moved to the mound in 2024 and posted a 6-4 record with a team-leading 3.38 ERA and 88 strikeouts over 85.1 innings pitched. Garrison also led the team with an average of 9.28 strikeouts per nine innings and a 1.17 WHIP.
 
DAWSON HARGROVE | RHP | SPRING HILL, TENN. | MONTEVALLO
Dawson Hargrove joins the pack after one season at Montevallo, finishing with a 1-1 record alongside a 2.08 ERA and 19 strikeouts over 21.2 innings pitched. The Spring Hill, Tennessee native held opposing hitters to a .194 clip at the plate and recorded two saves during his time at the Division-II level. Prior to his stint with the Falcons, the righty played two seasons at Southwest Tennessee Community College, finishing with a 4-1 record, six saves, and 51 strikeouts over 47.2 innings thrown.
 
JACK HIBBARD | R/R | UTL | MEMPHIS, TENN. | ARLINGTON HS
The 37th ranked prospect in Tennessee according to Perfect Game, Jack Hibbard joins Patrick Engskov, Carson Keithley, and Jake Henry Williams as the Scarlet and Black's utility players in 2025. The Memphis native accumulated plenty of awards during his time at Arlington High School and led the team to a state semifinals appearance. Hibbard was named The Commercial Appeal and Daily Memphian Player of the Year while being named to the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Class 1 AAAA All State Team in 2024. In addition, he was selected to the Tennessee Baseball Report Region 8 All-Region Team and The Tennessee Sports Writers Association 4A All-State Team.
 
CARSON KEITHLEY | L/L | UTL | ALVIN, TEXAS | TEXAS STATE
Carson Keithley arrives in Jonesboro after three seasons at Texas State, where he served as a utility player. The lefty tallied 29 strikeouts over 30.2 innings pitched and hit .333 with a home run and six RBI for the Bobcats. Spent two seasons with the St. Cloud Rox of the Northwoods League and an additional season with the Gaithersburg Giants of the Cal Ripken League. Notched 55 strikeouts and posted a 5.12 ERA over 51 innings pitched while hitting .292 with 35 RBIs and 26 runs scored in the summer leagues.
 
KOHLE KERIN | R/R | OF | LUBBOCK, TEXAS | SOUTHEAST (NEB.) CC
Kohle Kerin transfers to the Red Wolves following two seasons at the junior college level. The outfielder batted .308 with 51 RBIs, 39 runs scored, and 16 home runs in his freshman season at Luna Community College. The Lubbock, Texas, native transferred to Southeast Community College for his sophomore season, hitting .378 with 61 RBIs, 57 runs scored, and 19 RBIs. Kerin ranked inside the NJCAA top 100 for slugging percentage while landing inside the top 35 for home runs in both seasons. He earned NJCAA Region 9 First Team honors in 2024 and NJCAA Region 9 Second Team honors in 2023.
 
JOEY LOPEZ III | RHP | GALLOWAY, OHIO | MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE
Right-handed pitcher Joey Lopez transfers to A-State out of Mount Vernon Nazarene at the NAIA level. He pitched in 39 innings over two seasons, striking out 46 batters and recording a WHIP of 1.38. The Galloway, Ohio native retired four or more batters on strikes four times in 12 appearances last season.
 
JACK NELSON | LHP | ZIONSVILLE, IND. | NICHOLLS
Jack Nelson follows head coach Mike Silva to A-State after making 16 appearances and 10 starts in his lone season at Nicholls. The Zionsville, Indiana, native finished with a .500 record after drawing two decisions and struck out 47 batters in his junior campaign. Nelson played his first two seasons of collegiate baseball at Indian Hills Community College, where he posted a 3.77 ERA and 133 strikeouts over 100.1 innings pitched.
 
MASON PANKEY | R/R | C | JONESBORO, ARK. | NATIONAL PARK COLLEGE
Mason Pankey returns to his hometown after two years at National Park College in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In only one season, the catcher became the Nighthawks' all-time leader in batting average (.391) and tied for 10th in doubles (11). Pankey compiled a .655 slugging percentage and claimed 57 total bases while also firing off four home runs in 2024.
 
SAM PETERSON | RHP | LINDALE, TEXAS | TYLER JC
Sam Peterson arrives in Jonesboro after stints at Texas State and Tyler Junior College. The righty began his career with the Bobcats, making one appearance on 3/24/23 against Coastal Carolina. The Lindale, Texas, native made 17 appearances and five starts in his sophomore season with the Apache, earning a 2-1 record with 23 strikeouts and two saves over 23 innings pitched.
 
ASHTON QUILLER | L/R | OF | LAKE CHARLES, LA. | NICHOLLS
Ashton Quiller follows head coach Mike Silva to A-State after redshirting in his freshman season at Nicholls. The Lake Charles native spent the 2024 offseason with the Acadiana Cane Cutters of the Texas Collegiate League, hitting .265 with three triples and two doubles over 45 games.
 
CHASE RICHTER | LHP | HOUSTON, TEXAS | NICHOLLS
Chase Richter joins the program after posting a 1-1 record and 5.84 ERA with 24 strikeouts over 22 appearances and 24.2 innings pitched at Nicholls. The lefty also spent the 2023 offseason with the Acadiana Cane Cutters of the Texas Collegiate League, posting a 4.08 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 39.2 innings pitched. Prior to his stint in Thibodaux, Richter spent two seasons at Northeast Texas Community College.
 
PARKER RYAN | R/L | C/OF | MADISON, MISS. | PEARL RIVER CC
A Pear River Community College product, Parker Ryan signed with the program following two seasons at catcher. The left-handed hitter recorded a .309 batting average with 33 RBIs and 12 extra-base hits over 149 plate appearances. He drove in 20 runs and recorded two home runs on a .378 clip en route to a 49-10 record in 2024.
 
ISAAC SEWELL | LHP | CLERMONT, FLA. | COLLEGE OF CENTRAL FLORIDA
Isaac Sewell is a left-handed pitcher who played two seasons at the College of Central Florida. In his time with the Patriots, the Clermont, Florida, native made 44 appearances with only one start. He finished with a 12-3 record and three saves, striking out 96 batters over 86 innings thrown.
 
GARRETT THIELE | RHP | NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS | NEW MEXICO JC
Right-handed pitcher Garrett Thiele joins the program following two seasons at New Mexico Junior College. He finished with a 6-1 record and three saves over 42.1 innings pitched for the Thunderbirds. Thiele pitched for the Seguin River Monsters of the Texas Collegiate League this summer, earning two victories on a 3.50 ERA and 22 strikeouts.
 
KYLE TOLLEY | R/R | OF | JONESBORO, ARK. | SOUTH ARKANSAS CC
Jonesboro native Kyle Tolley returns home after two seasons at South Arkansas Community College, where he appeared in 97 games and recorded a .338 batting average with 70 RBIs and 19 home runs over two seasons. The outfielder ranked 43rd among NJCAA athletes with 11 home runs and ranked 51st in stolen bases with 26 during his sophomore campaign. Tolley also accumulated a .617 slugging percentage while leading the program to an NJCAA Division-II World Series appearance.
 
RAUL TORRES | R/R | IF | CAGUAS, PUERTO RICO | INDIAN HILLS CC
After spending two seasons at Indian Hills Community College, Raul Torres joins the Red Wolves for the 2025 campaign. The infielder appeared in 109 games for the Warriors, batting .326 with 101 runs scored and 93 RBIs. Torres finished the 2024 campaign with a .374 clip at the plate along with a .575 slugging percentage and 23 extra-base hits, which includes five home runs.
 
TYLER WEIMER | RHP | RACELAND, LA. | E.D. WHITE HS
Ranked 51st among top prospects in Louisiana, Tyler Weimer arrives in Jonesboro after helping lead E.D. White High School to the Louisiana Division-II Select State Championship in 2023 and a Division-II Select State Quarterfinals appearance in 2024. In his lone postseason appearance of 2024, the righty threw a complete game in a 1-0 victory.
 
In addition to the 31 newcomers, A-State returns 17 players from the 2023 roster. Of the 17 returners there are 10 seniors, three juniors, and four sophomores.
 
"I would like to recognize the importance of our 17 returners and their willingness to welcome the new coaching staff and additions to our roster," Coach Silva said. "These transitions can be exciting and challenging at the same time. The enthusiasm and pride in Red Wolves baseball that our players displayed has provided an energy at our practices and workouts that cannot be understated. We look forward to a successful 2025."
