A-State Sweeps SBC Cross Country Weekly Honors

JONESBORO, Ark. (9/25/24) – A pair of Arkansas State cross country runners captured weekly honors, the Sun Belt Conference announced Wednesday.

Noah McMurtrey and Mia Conroy were named the league's Men's and Women's Runners of the Week, respectively.

Conroy led the Red Wolves women's squad to its fourth straight Rhodes Invitational team title on Saturday, pacing five top-20 finishers. The freshman from Perth, Australia, placed 11th with a time of 23:52.56 in the 6K race. Conroy is A-State's first women's Runner of the Week since Rahel Broemmel on Oct. 4, 2023.

McMurtrey placed 20th in the men's 8K at Rhodes, running a team-best time of 26:29.42. The Bentonville, Ark., native was one of four A-State runners to finish among the top 50 as the team placed eighth. He is the first A-State runner to earn the Men's Runner of the Week since Jacob Pyeatt on Oct. 18, 2023.
