JONESBORO, Ark. (9/4/24) – Arkansas State men's golf head coach Mike Hagen announced Wednesday the hiring of Michael Terblanche as assistant coach.
"I'm excited to add Michael Terblanche our coaching staff," Hagen said. "During our search, Michael's competitive playing background and profound understanding of the game really stood out."
Terblanche served as an assistant coach at Mercer last season (2023-24) helping the Bears match the program-best finish at a SoCon Championship. The Bears had Tobias Jonsson advance to NCAA Regionals as an individual and Jonsson competed in the 3M Open on the PGA Tour this summer.
"I am very excited to be joining the coaching staff at Arkansas State University," Terblanche said. "I want to thank coach Hagen for this opportunity, and I am looking forward to the upcoming season. Wolves Up!"
Terblanche finished out his collegiate career as a graduate transfer at Toledo playing 11 rounds and compiling a 74.9 stroke average for the Rockets. He spent his junior and senior seasons (2020-22) at Missouri after playing his sophomore season at McNeese State. He began his collegiate career at Hofstra in 2018-19. He posted five career top-20 finishes throughout his collegiate career.
A native of Hilton, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, Terblanche played golf, rugby and cricket at Hilton College in South Africa. He earned Provincial honors in 2016 and 2017 and helped the team to a championship in 2016.
