NASHVILLE, Tenn. (1/17/25) – Arkansas State track and field got off to a strong start on Friday, posting multiple top-10 marks at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
Noa Isaia won the men's weight throw with a mark of 19.58m (64-3) that stands sixth in school history.
Kiara Strayhorn finished runner-up in the women's long jump, leaping 6.25m (20-6.25) to rank second in program history.
Nyima Williamson was third in the unseeded section with a collegiate-best mark of 5.66m (18-7), with Izzy Daines jumping 5.16m (16-11.25).
Colby Eddowes finished sixth in the seeded men's long jump with a season-best jump of 7.48m (24-6.5). In the unseeded flights,
Jaivion Jenkins jumped 6.88m (22-7) to place eighth with
Matthew Williams coming in 10
th with a mark of 6.71m (22-0.25).
A-State's men's DMR squad posted a time of 10:09.20 that is 10
th in program history, placing fourth in the event. On the women's side, the Red Wolves had a mark of 12:00.73 in a fourth-place finish as well as a 12
th-place time of 12:33.55.
Gavin Schaer placed second in the open men's pole vault, clearing a collegiate-best 4.93m (16-2).
Brandon Love was sixth with a mark of 4.51m (14-9.5).
John Carswell tied for 11
th in the invitational, clearing a season-best 4.86m (15-11.25).
In the women's high jump,
Miranda Burgett placed third in the invitational with a season-best height of 1.72m (5-7.75).
Ashley Guadamuz cleared an indoor-best 1.53m (5-0.25) to place 10
th in the open section.
Michelle Ogbemudia finished ninth in the women's weight throw invite, tossing the implement 17.99m (59-0.25).
In the men's 5000 meters,
Avinash Patel clocked a time of 14:52.45 to place eighth, while
Reid Gulstrom was 30
th with a time of 15:58.54.
Kat Schaefer was 38
th in the women's race, finishing in 19:14.95.
CJ Burge ran 22.76 to place 34
th in the men's 200 meters, with
Sebastian Mejia (23.16) and
Jourdan Clements (29.64) finishing 37
th and 43
rd.
Keniya Simpson was 38
th in the women's 200 meters (25.67) and
Hanyla Milligan finished 50
th (26.21).
