Red Wolves Open Play at Big Red Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. (2/20/26) – The third-ranked Arkansas State women's bowling team opened play at the Big Red Invitational hosted by Nebraska Friday and stands eighth among 12 teams after the first of three competition days.
 
A-State (56-27) was 2-3 in head-to-head Baker matches and totaled 4,933 pins for an average of 197.3. Jacksonville State paced the field with 5,506 pins (220.2) and the top five was completed with Wichita State (5,155), Maryville (5,108), Vanderbilt (5,066) and Nebraska (5,041). McKendree (5,002) and Louisiana Tech (4,993) were just ahead of the Red Wolves while Sam Houston (4,844), Youngstown State (4,829), Quincy (4,422) and Western Illinois (4,325) completed the 12-team field.
 
The Red Wolves opened the day with a 907-888 advantage against Quincy but dropped their next match by a tally of 1,058-969 against No. 6 Nebraska. A-State came up just short against No. 13 in a 994-977 setback and No. 1 Jacksonville State dealt the Red Wolves a 1,143-1,028 advantage. A-State closed out the day with its highest Baker total in a 1,052-855 margin against Western Illinois.
 
A-State is set to face No. 5 Louisiana Tech, No. 14 Sam Houston, No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Youngstown State and No. 4 Wichita State in traditional matches Saturday.
