STATESBORO, Ga. (3/21/26) – Facing Sun Belt Conference competition for the first time this season, the Arkansas State women's tennis dropped a 4-2 decision at Georgia Southern Friday afternoon.
A-State (7-7) battled in the double point but came up just short as Georgia Southern (7-7) grabbed an early lead.
Anna Grigoreva and
Carla Muro Castellvi fell 6-3 on court one, but
Helena Bueno and
Hanmare McAslin evened the tally with a 6-4 win on court three.
Lilly Cvanciger and
Sarah Millard saw their match on court two go to a tiebreaker, but Georgia Southern came out on top 7-6 (4).
Meghna Arun Kumar evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mackenzie Leopold on court five and Muro Castellvi gave A-State a 2-1 lead following a 6-3, 6-1 triumph on court six. The Eagles made it 2-2 with Franzi Heinemann topping Bueno 6-3, 6-4 on court three and increased the advantage to 3-2 with Amelie Rosadoro defeating McAslin 6-4, 6-2 on court four. Georgia Southern clinched the match Grigoreva falling in the third set against Evelyn Warkentin 2-6, 6-1, 2-6. Cvanciger trailed 6-2, 2-6, 0-2 on court two.
A-State continues its road trip Sunday at Coastal Carolina. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. (ET) from the Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway, S.C.
